Who Can become a Freemason?
Membership is open to any man over the age of 21 and of good character.
You must believe is a Supreme Being and we welcome all races and religions.
Women can join one of two Grand Lodges, The Order of Women Freemasons and Freemasonry for Women and more information can be found on their websites.
We have members from all walks of life and all backgrounds which allows you to meet interesting people you might otherwise never have encountered.
You will need to be able to attend Lodge meetings which are generally 4 times a year.
How Much Will It Cost Me?
Each Lodge charges fees which are formed from three parts:
- Fees to Grand Lodge. This is to cover their running costs
- Fees to Provincial Grand Lodge. This is to cover their running costs
- Fees to our own Lodge. This is to cover our own running costs such as hiring the venue where we meet.
- Fees for Dining. The Social part of Freemasonry is very important and a big part of any Meeting is that we meet for dinner after the Lodge Meeting concludes.
I am interested, What Should I Do Next ?
Our Lodge Secretary will be happy to help answer any questions you may have but the process generally begins with an email or telephone conversation followed by an informal meeting where we can fully answer any questions that you will have.
The next stage would be to attend one of our informal functions so you can meet more of our members and get a broader view of what we do.
Assuming everything goes well and you are completely happy you will be invited to complete a Joining Form and attend a formal Lodge committee meeting after which we hope your application to join the Lodge will be recommended to all our members.
The process from your initial enquiry to joining a Lodge typically takes between 6-9 months.
